Custom Probe Design & Fabrication Minimize

Our comprehensive research and development process for the aerospace industry has resulted in our ability to produce probe tips and bodies using high temperature materials.  Ongoing R&D work is looking at producing probes for cryogenic applications, and continuing to expand our manufacturing flexibility, both with new materials and geometric complexity.  The results of this research and development, and our micromachining expertise, are not limited to the aerospace industry, and additional applications for the technology are continuing to be integrated.

Our R&D process can work for you as well.  Our innovations are created through in-depth scientific and engineering insight coupled with creative problem solving acumen.  Working with you, we will establish a concept, including material selection and appropriate production process, then design and fabricate the prototype, and then pilot production.

Pressure Sensing Bodies for Aerospace Applications Minimize

Current applications for these probes include extreme high temperature environments such as jet turbines. Measurements taken via these air flow measurement devices provide flow angle and speed in an environment where it would be otherwise difficult to measure. Capturing this information is critical as the data is used to confirm computational modeling and design efficiency validation.

This is a 5-port air-data probe which has a 1/8" hemispherical tip with 0.020 in. port diameter. The probe also has a static ring which allows the probe to measure the static pressure in addition the dynamic pressures measured at the ports.

Probes Minimize

Our probe production facility offers several exclusive designs for probes.  Our proprietary probe inventory includes probes/tips having the following material characteristics:

Stainless Steel Probes Minimize

Stainless steel – we can design and manufacture pressure sensing bodies as small as 1/16” in diameter, with 0.010” ports.

We recommend this material for low temperature applications (less than 500o C).

Superalloy Probes Minimize

Superalloys – we offer the design and manufacture of pressure sensing bodies as small as 1/16” diameter, with 0.010” ports.

We recommend these materials for cryogenic applications and temperatures ranging between 500o C to 1100o C.  These probes are commonly fabricated from Inconel alloys 600, 693, 718 and Hastelloy X and the individual components are vacuum brazed together to form an aerospace-ready part.

Ceramic/Metallic Probes Minimize

Ceramic/metallic – we can design and manufacture pressure sensing bodies as small as 1/8” diameter, with 0.020” ports.

We recommend this material for applications with temperatures up to 1250oC.
